Brewing Opportunities: GEMPC Hosts 3rd Livelihood Seminar – Barista 101
Last September 20, 2025, the GMA-7 Employees’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative successfully conducted its 3rd Livelihood Seminar with the theme “Barista 101” at the GEMPC Events Place. The event featured two separate sessions—morning and afternoon—to accommodate 80 enthusiastic participants eager to learn the craft of coffee-making.
The seminar aimed to empower members and participants with practical knowledge and skills in barista techniques, espresso preparation, and coffee appreciation—highlighting how a simple cup of coffee can become a potential livelihood opportunity.
Coffee, often referred to as the “world’s favorite drink,” has a rich history dating back to the 15th century. Originating from Ethiopia, it spread across Arabia and Europe, eventually becoming a global staple. Today, coffee is not only a daily ritual but also a billion-dollar industry that continues to open doors for entrepreneurship and creative careers.
Through Barista 101, attendees were given hands-on training in brewing methods, coffee presentation, and the artistry behind every cup. More than just teaching skills, the seminar reinforced GEMPC’s commitment to fostering self-reliance, entrepreneurial spirit, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for its members.
With the rising demand for skilled baristas in cafés, restaurants, and hospitality industries, the cooperative continues to support its members by providing valuable learning experiences that combine passion and profession.
